Glossary
Below is a glossary of terms that are relevant to our products and services.
Bulk Materials Handling: The process of transporting, storing, and controlling large quantities of materials, typically granular, powdered, or lump form.
Conveying Equipment: Machinery designed to move materials from one point to another, such as belts, screws, or drag systems.
Screw Conveyor: A mechanical device that uses a rotating helical screw blade to move bulk materials horizontally or at an incline within a trough or tube.
Screw Feeder: Similar to a screw conveyor, but designed to regulate the flow of bulk material into another process or equipment, often for precise metering.
Multiple Screw Feeders: A system incorporating several screw feeders to handle larger volumes of bulk materials or achieve more controlled, even distribution.
Live Bottoms: Conveying systems, often with screws, integrated into the base of bins, hoppers, or silos, to facilitate the even discharge of materials.
Cantilevered Screws: A screw conveyor or feeder design where the screw is supported at one end, rather than at both, often used for specific discharge applications.
Belt Conveyors: Systems that use a continuous belt to transport materials, usually horizontally or at a slight incline.
Drag Conveyors: Conveyors utilizing chains, cables, or other linkages with attached flights or paddles to drag bulk materials through a trough or tube.
Bucket Elevators: Vertical conveying systems using a series of buckets attached to a belt or chain to lift materials vertically.
Jacketed Conveyor Housing: A type of conveyor housing that has an outer jacket to allow for temperature control via circulation of heat transfer fluid.
Ribbon Screws: A type of screw conveyor that uses ribbon flighting in place of a full helix to move certain types of bulk materials.
Injector Screws: A specialized screw conveyor or feeder used for injecting materials into a process, typically under intense heat and/or pressure.
